Making 1000 wishes come true this Christmas

Recently, Emerald Resort & Casino hosted Lusa Community Chest, IFM and a thousand underprivileged kids to celebrate Lusa Community Chest's Wish Upon a Star Project.

"This annual project sees local businesses partnering with us to purchase Christmas gifts for the less fortunate," says Retha Botha, Project Manager at Lusa Community Chest.

"This year we partnered with Emerald Resort & Casino, Accelor Metal, IFM 102.2, Mooi Vaal Media, Sasol, Mardo Photos and many other sponsors to make Wish Upon a Star a reality for disadvantaged children in the Vaal Triangle."

Every child in the 25 youth care centres registered with the charity, is given the opportunity to select a quality and age appropriate gift from a wish list to make them feel as special as any other child would.

Lunch was supplied and served at Emerald Resort & Casino. Thereafter, the much awaited handover of 1000 Christmas gifts took place. The power of a smile and a joyful moment could be felt by everyone present, not just the children who received the gifts.

''In the eight years that we have been involved in this charity, the Wish Upon a Star project is an absolute success story and we always look forward to events such as these, especially where we can make a difference in our local community," says Tanuja Gangabishun, Marketing Executive at Emerald Resort & Casino. "Seeing the excitement and gratitude on the children's faces makes such initiatives a wonderful experience and there's no better way to celebrate Christmas. We definitely look forward to next year's event."

For up to date information on these events and more, visitors to the Resort are encouraged to stay close to their Facebook and Twitter pages, or guests can visit for more information on any of the events mentioned here.
